We at Red Hat are working on getting the Contrib Net up and running very soon
which will address these issues. The Contrib Net will basically run parallel
with the regular contrib section but it will have designated maintainers who
will actively support certain contrib RPMS. Therefore they will address issues
such as bugs and new releases of RPM files. That way the Contrib Net RPMS will
be verifiable that they came from who they say they did. Look for details on
the web site about when this is operational. We will urge people to use those
as opposed to the ones in the normal contrib for obvious reasons.
