Subject: AutoRPM 1.3.2 & new Mailing Lists

*NOTE* This will probably be the last announcement made for a while...
I might still announce to Red Hat Announce list, but I think some
people are probably getting sick of this. As a result, I have made
some mailing lists of my own. I hope that *all* AutoRPM users will
at least subscribe to the AutoRPM-Announce list, and I hope that
many of you who have been helping out with suggestions and bug
reports for AutoRPM will subscribe to AutoRPM-Devel list...

AutoRPM List:
For general discussion and questions about AutoRPM.
To Subscribe: echo "subscribe" | mail autorpm-request@kaybee.org
   Send Mail To: autorpm@kaybee.org

AutoRPM Announcements List:
   For important announcements about AutoRPM.
To Subscribe: echo "subscribe" | mail autorpm-announce-request@kaybee.org
   Send Mail To: autorpm-announce@kaybee.org

AutoRPM Development List:
   For discussion about AutoRPM development.
To Subscribe: echo "subscribe" | mail autorpm-devel-request@kaybee.org
   Send Mail To: autorpm-devel@kaybee.org

Announcing AutoRPM 1.3.2!!

I have literally received over a hundred emails in the past few days about
AutoRPM. Some of them were reporting bugs, but most of them were very
good suggestions. I think I have added all that has been asked of me
(except for the one thing noted in the TODO list... I will get to that
eventually ;), but if I forgot to add something you asked for, let me
know!

No matter how strange of situations I test AutoRPM in, somebody always
finds a way to use in in stranger situations ;) The bugs really look
like they are about gone... I never call any of my programs Betas, but
AutoRPM really still is ;)

*DESCRIPTION*
AutoRPM is a program that can do any combination of the following: mirror RPMs
from an FTP site, keep installed RPMs consistent with an FTP site or local
directory, and keep installed RPMs in a cluster or network of systems consis-
tent. It is highly flexible and even contains a very nice, menu-driven
Interactive-Install mode.

*NOTE*
There has been one big bug fix plus some other changes since version 1.1.
See the bottom of this message for details.

NOTE: The first time you run AutoRPM, you will probably get several
entries for your Interactive Install Queue, but once you Install, Upgrade
or Remove those entries, you will only get new entries in your Interactive
Install Queue when new RPMs are put in the updates directory.

***********************
* For Red Hat Linux 5.0
***********************

Get the non-achitecture-specific main program:
ftp://ftp.kaybee.org/pub/redhat/RPMS/noarch/autorpm-1.2-1.noarch.rpm

Get the Perl library needed:
ftp://ftp.kaybee.org/pub/redhat/RPMS/noarch/libnet-1.0502-4.noarch.rpm

And make sure you have the 'dialog' program that came with Red Hat Linux 5.0.
Oh, and you also need Perl.

***********************
* For Red Hat Linux 4.X
***********************

Get the programs above from ftp.kaybee.org, but for your appropriate
architecture. Just FTP there and you'll see ;)

Version 1.3 -> 1.3.2
- Fixed bug with the checking of PGP signatures over FTP
- Made a few minor changed...
- Added mention of mailing lists

Version 1.2.1 -> 1.3
- RPM kept exiting w/ a status of -1 no matter what when AutoRPM
is run from cron. I no longer use the exit status of RPM
  except in Interactive-Mode.
- Can now make installation decisions based on the PGP signature
of the RPM. See autorpm.conf(5) for more details.
- Can now merge all mailings to a given address into one report,
  if desired.
- Can now only mail a report only if anything actually happened...
- Entry count for Interactive queue is now accurate if there
are repeated entries. The last entry for a repeated entry
  is the one used.
- A few other bug-prevention changes ;)
