Subject: Linux embedded in Internet related products
Hi all,
Day after day, we can read more informations about internet/network
products that rely on Linux as an embedded OS, because of its price of
course but also of its performances and reliability.
Appex is selling a product "Team Internet", an all-in-a-box for Internet
Access (http://apexxtech.com/html/teaminternet.html). If you look
further in their site, you can discover that Linux has been choosen for
the embedded OS: http://apexxtech.com/html/detailsh.html ("Embedded
Linux kernel with Apexx Internet Gateway System (IGS)").
Furthermore, a french company called MNC ("Multimedia Network Computer")
is selling two products for home Internet surfing (using your TV). One
of them, called "SurfNet" is based on Linux too. Sorry but I haven't
been able to find any WWW link to confirm this information (read in
Electronique International Hebdo - Oct 9 1997). This page
http://www.actual.fr/cyrix-mnccom1.htm tells us about MNC general policy
but doesn't mention Linux.
